Big thanks to everyone who came out to the Patagonia Cardiff store last Sunday for our first ever 'FOAMosa Brunch', to help us celebrate our Waste to Waves program turning 4 years old!  And big props to all of YOU out there who brought in your used styrofoam packaging in to be recycled into other cool things like surfboards - instead of tossing it in the trash.

A strong current of friends and special guests drifted by including Reef team riders like Rob Machado ,Taylor Knox, Kai Otton and Tia Blanco, and the Brunch menu kept the packed crowd happy with sustainably sourced poke bowls and fish tacos from Fish 101. The delicious drinks were flowing courtesy of our pals over at SUJA Juice , Head High Wines and Saint Archer Brewing , and the fine folks at Patagonia Provisions & Surf Sweets flowed us a medley of organic & non-GMO snacks to share.

But forget the amazing food for second – we also featured the premiere of our latest 'Waste to Waves' video featuring Reef athlete ambassadors (Taylor Knox & Kai Otton) riding ECOBOARD surfboards made with recycled styrofoam cores, and Kurt Hunter kept everybody's toes tapping with live music for the whole afternoon. The Photo booth was a blast with the big and the little kids too, and event posters were being made to order and freshly printed right on the premises.

And we even dug up a few "sanddollars" to help support the Waste to Waves program too, thanks to our pals over at Reef, and Channel Islands Surfboards who made Kai and Taylor their first (but not last) #ECOBOARD surfboards that were auctioned off to some very lucky individuals.

While our FOAMosa Brunch Sunday was blast, we mostly hope it inspired individuals in the local SD North County community to bring their used styrofoam to the Patagonia Cardiff store that day to be recycled. This helps to keep this material from ending up as plastic trash in the ocean, and gets more ocean-friendly materials turned back into high performance, recycled EPS surfboard cores. And from there, it can get made into your next ECOBOARD!

* Sustainable Surf wants to give a very special shout out to all Waste to Waves program partners for their commitment to keep this program going strong over the last four years including: Reef, Marko Foam, Patagonia, Action Sports Express, Surfrider Foundation, SUJA Juice, Surf Sweets Organic Gummy Candy, Head High Wines, Waste Management - and a very personal thanks to Nell Newman!
