Jonhi was born in Venezuela. He left home at an early age in order to live on Tenerife Island in the Canaries. When he was 16 years old he started competing on the ASP European Junior Tour. This is when the European scene recognized him as an extremely talented and super stylish surfer and enjoyed watching his huge variety of different airs.

Jonhi is a real fighter when it comes to achieving his goals and he won’t give up even though he missed the qualification for the WCT again this year by just a few points. On his Island the waves are similar to Hawaii’s with lots of powerful reef breaks. Watch him surfing perfect barrels in crystalline water from 3 to 20 feet and you know why he is one of the most photographed and featured surfers in Europe.
