Taylor Knox’s passion for boardsports almost ended his career before it started. At the age of 15, Knox suffered a devastating back injury while skateboarding. Doctors insisted he would never surf competitively, but after undergoing surgery for a damaged lumbar, Knox defied the harsh sentence by turning to a healthy diet, core fitness training and intense physical therapy.
Sterling Spencer hails from the West Coast of Florida, and has made a career out of dominating punchy two-footers on the Panhandle. Since the Gulf doesn’t constantly pump, he’s logged some serious frequent flyer miles seeking more challenging conditions to take him to the next level.
Michael Powell is not only a serious East Coast shredder, but he’s also quite possibly one of the most educated pros in surfing. Coming up in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, surfing was everything to he and his brother Ben. But even as a top competitor on the Right Side, Powell chose to pursue an education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
